What is a herringbone point laminate parquet?
The major difference between a classic herringbone and hungarian point, also known as chevron, is the saw cut, whereas with herringbone the planks meet at right angles of 90°,
with a hungarian point, the boards are placed at a 45° or 60° angle creating a straight line. This is sometimes called the “sergeant pattern.
With hungarian point, you obtain a tighter, calmer pattern, depending on the grade chosen. Hungarian point parquet flooring is extremely suitable for all possible (straight) spaces and perfectly possible on underfloor heating.
Hungarian point is glued directly to the screed, or can of course also be placed on a subfloor (mosaic).
A hard wax oil can be used for the finish. The is applied AFTER installation? You can also choose to have the boards treated beforehand. Belat parquet has an oiling line with the latest LED technology. The treatment with LED oil ensures that your floor is perfectly protected.
Hungarian point floor
Hungarian point is a parquet floor that has a very exclusive look. A Hungarian point is a herringbone floor with flattened corners so that at the meeting of both planks a straight line is obtained. Because of this, the planks must also all have exactly the same dimensions. This is why this floor is in the higher price segment.
Installation of hungarian point parquet
The installation of a hungarian point floor is the same as a herringbone floor. A hungarian point is always glued firmly to the subfloor. Place 1 strip in the middle of the room. Make sure it lies perfectly because any imperfections will become visible in the rest of the parquet floor. After the parquet glue of this center strip dries, you can place the rest of the parquet floor strip by strip. After installation, the parquet floor must be sanded before it can be oiled or varnished.
Maintenance of a hungarian point floor
The maintenance of a hungarian point parquet is no different from an ordinary plank floor and depends on the finish. If the hungarian point is oiled it is monthly mopping with a damp mop with parquet soap in it. For varnished floors it is the same without soap in the water. Furthermore, you may vacuum and sweep as much as you deem necessary.
Hungarian point is available is different sizes and grades.
