Hungarian point parquet

The major difference between a classic herringbone and Hungarian point is the saw cut. Herringbone parquet is installed at a 90° angle and Hungarian point at a 45° or 60° angle. This unique method of placement creates a typical straight line throughout the room. This line makes the room look optically larger.

Hungarian point is glued directly to the existing subfloor as the patterns must remain firmly in place.

The unique method of installation requires a lot of preparation and concentration from the installer. Each batten is placed separately and must fit perfectly to create the most beautiful whole.

With Belat parquet, you can choose from a variety of thicknesses, widths and lengths. Underfloor heating or other technical details are also taken into account. All boards have a tongue and groove joint for easy installation.

Installation of Hungarian point parquet

Installing a Hungarian point is fairly labor intensive and requires a lot of planning and concentration from the installer. This is also the main reason why installing herringbone parquet is usually better left to professional flooring installers.

The layout of the first strip must be well planned. It should be perpendicular to the wall. Let the first strip dry out properly and then proceed with the installation. This will ensure that the placed slats can no longer shift.

After installation, the Hungarian point must be sanded. Do this with a woodboy in 3 steps: first with grain 40, then with grain 80 and finally with grain 120. After sanding, it is time to oil or varnish the Hungarian point.

Maintenance of a Hungarian point

The maintenance of a hungarian point parquet is no different from an ordinary plank floor and depends on the finish. If the hungarian point is oiled then it is monthly mopping with a damp mop with parquet soap in it. For varnished floors it is the same without soap in the water. Furthermore, vacuuming and sweeping may be done as much as you deem necessary.
