Transport:
The handle must be in an upright position, the power cable coiled and the white “transport” pad must be applied. This pad is only for transport and is not used to treat the floor.
At all times, a pad must be present on the woodboy to prevent damage to the bottom of the machine.
Learning to use the machine:
1. Unroll the power cable completely.
2. Use the large gray switch to adjust the handle to hip height. This ensures maximum control over the machine.
3. Remove the “transport” pad and the 10 kg weight from the top of the woodboy. Then, apply a clean white pad.
4. Plug the power cable into the socket.
5. Place the woodboy in the center of the room and simultaneously press the yellow switch down with your right thumb and both gray switches on the handle with your hands. You can release the yellow switch once the machine is spinning.
6. The first time, the machine will likely swing to one side, release the gray buttons to stop the machine before it hits anything. The trick is to hold the handle so that the woodboy stays spinning in place. You only need to make minimal movements with the handle to direct the woodboy once you find the zero point. Very little strength is needed for this.
- Handle up: woodboy moves to the right
- Handle down: woodboy moves to the left
- Handle left: woodboy moves forward
- Handle right: woodboy moves backward
You may proceed to sanding or oiling (if sanding is not necessary) once you feel you have control over the woodboy.
Sanding:
1. Press the 80-grit sanding mesh onto the white pad (the pad in the photo is mistakenly the white one).
You can use it to sand the floor. The corners and edges where the woodboy cannot reach can be sanded manually or with a hand sander.
2. Clean the floor with a vacuum cleaner to inspect if everything has been sanded properly.
3. Replace the 80-grit sanding mesh with a 100-grit one and repeat steps 1 and 2.
4. Replace the 100-grit sanding mesh with a 120-grit one and repeat steps 1 and 2.
5. Clean the floor thoroughly with the vacuum cleaner and go over it again with a damp mop so that all the dirt and dust are gone. Check if the floor has been sanded properly. Minor imperfections can be manually corrected.
Oiling:
1. Remove the 10 kg weight from the woodboy and the sanding mesh from the pad. Clean this white pad thoroughly.
2. Stir the hardwax oil well and pour a little onto the floor, stand on it with the woodboy, then turn the woodboy on. Spread this hardwax oil as well as possible with the woodboy. If necessary, you can pour more oil out. Be sure not to use too much oil at once. Continue this until you've done about 10m².
3. 5 minutes after oiling, you may polish the treated floor with a new white pad. Ensure that all oil that has not been absorbed is picked up by the pad. The floor should feel dry to the touch.
4. Repeat these steps until the entire floor is treated. Always use new pads for this. Do not turn the pads over, as this damages the machine.
5. Wait at least 6 hours before applying a second layer of hardwax oil.
Cleaning up:
1. Everything that has come into contact with the hardwax oil must be submerged in water to prevent spontaneous combustion.
2. Place the “transport” pad on the woodboy and stand the handle upright.
3. Clean the woodboy. Brake cleaner is a product that can remove residues of the hardwax oil.
4. Coil the power cable as you received it.
